A cold front moving through the region will bring a return to more seasonal temperatures across Chattooga County and Northwest Georgia by Tuesday, with only minimal rain expected in the short term.
Forecasters say rain chances will remain very low today, at less than 15 percent, as dry air limits any significant shower development. Skies may become partly cloudy as the front moves through, followed by clearing conditions later in the day. Gusty northwest winds are also expected, with speeds reaching up to 20 to 25 miles per hour.
By Tuesday, cooler air settles into the area, bringing temperatures back to more typical late-March levels, with highs in the low to mid-60s.
Looking ahead, a warming trend is expected to develop late Tuesday and continue through the end of the week. Rain chances will gradually increase into the 15 to 35 percent range beginning Tuesday night into Wednesday, when a weak weather system could bring scattered showers to Northwest Georgia. However, limited moisture is expected to keep widespread rainfall and thunderstorms unlikely.
By Thursday, temperatures will rebound significantly, with highs climbing into the lower 80s. Another cold front could approach the region by Friday, bringing a chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially across far north Georgia.
Overall, residents in Chattooga County and surrounding areas can expect a mix of cooler, dry conditions early in the week, followed by warmer temperatures and a slight increase in rain chances as the week progresses.
