Vendor Spots Now Open for Hwy 27 Longest Yard Sale in Summerville

The City of Summerville is encouraging vendors to reserve their space now for the upcoming Hwy 27 Longest Yard Sale, set for August 6th through 8th at Dowdy Park.

While the popular event is still a few months away, officials say vendor spots are already available and expected to fill up quickly. Spaces are being offered for just five dollars per day, giving individuals a chance to clear out unused items and make extra money during one of the area’s busiest shopping events.

Dowdy Park, located in the heart of downtown Summerville, will serve as a central hub for shoppers traveling along Highway 27 during the multi-state yard sale event. Organizers say the location provides strong foot traffic and excellent visibility for vendors.

Those interested in securing a spot can contact the City of Summerville to request a vendor form and lock in their space ahead of time.

Chattooga County Red Cross Club Blood Drive Set for Feb. 9 at Chamber & Civic Center — $20 e-Gift Card for Donors

The Chattooga County Community Red Cross Club is inviting residents across Chattooga County and Northwest Georgia to help save lives at an upcoming community blood drive on Monday, February 9, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The drive will be held at the Chattooga County Chamber & Civic Center.

Organizers say every donation can make a difference for patients in need of emergency care, surgeries, cancer treatments, and chronic illness support. Winter months can also bring increased strain on blood supplies due to illness and weather-related disruptions, making local donor turnout especially important.

As an added incentive, all presenting donors will receive a $20 e-gift card as a thank-you for taking the time to donate.

Appointments are encouraged. Donors can schedule a time, get more information, and complete RapidPass paperwork online by visiting RedCrossBlood.org and entering the sponsor code RedCrossClub. The American Red Cross also notes donors can use the Blood Donor App for scheduling and updates.

Wings Over North Georgia Air Show Returns April 3–4 in Rome With U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds as Headliners

The Wings Over North Georgia Air Show will return to the skies over Rome this spring, taking place Friday and Saturday, April 3 and 4, at Russell Regional Airport, with the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds set to headline the two-day event.

Air show organizers say the Thunderbirds are expected to be in town throughout air show week, and JLC Airshow Management President John Cowman noted he’s especially excited that the team will be able to land at Rome’s airport this time, crediting a recent runway extension for making that possible.

The show will feature aerial performances both days, along with a twilight show and fireworks on Friday night. Organizers also emphasized there will be no show on Sunday, which falls on Easter.

Tickets are on sale now through the event website and must be purchased in advance. Organizers say tickets will not be sold at the air show. For updates leading up to the event, attendees are encouraged to follow Wings Over North Georgia Airshow on Facebook.
