The 2026 Friends of Georgia State Parks Annual ParkPass is now available, marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and giving outdoor enthusiasts a way to enjoy Georgia’s state parks while supporting them directly.
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ (DNR) Wildlife Resources Division has received notification of a preliminary positive Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) test result for a deer in Atkinson County. (For reference, Atkinson County is roughly 260 miles from Chattooga County.)
Georgia is getting national attention after being named home to one of the most snake-infested state parks in the United States. A recent listing from World Atlas ranks Skidaway Island State Park, located just south of Savannah, among the top seven parks in the nation with the highest concentration of snakes.
