Students in the Chattooga County School System will have access to a wide range of Career, Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE) programs during the 2026-2027 school year, preparing them for college, technical education and careers in high-demand fields.

The CTAE program is offered at Chattooga High School, Summerville Middle School, Lyerly Middle School and Menlo Middle School. School officials say the courses are available to all students regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability or limited English proficiency.

Available pathways include agriculture, allied health, certified nursing assistant, carpentry, cloud computing, criminal investigations, electrical, automotive technology, masonry, plumbing, sheet metal, welding, sports nutrition, patient care, plant science, work-based learning and youth apprenticeship programs.

AdventHealth Redmond will hold a hiring event Friday, July 17, as the hospital works to fill a variety of clinical and support positions.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. in Classrooms A and B at AdventHealth Redmond in Rome. Hospital leaders will be available to conduct interviews, with same-day job offers and sign-on bonuses available for certain positions.

Openings are available in several departments, including registered nursing, radiology, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, surgical services and environmental services.

New employees are eligible for a benefits package beginning on their first day, including paid time off, professional development opportunities and student loan repayment assistance for qualifying positions.

Candidates are encouraged to register in advance through the AdventHealth Careers website.

AdventHealth Redmond EMS Launches New Paramedic Training Program

AdventHealth Redmond EMS has launched a new paramedic training program aimed at strengthening emergency medical care across Northwest Georgia.

The program officially began April 8 and includes an inaugural class of 16 certified EMTs who are current AdventHealth team members. The 45-week program is designed to provide advanced clinical training, hands-on experience, and patient-centered emergency care.

Officials say the program will help expand career opportunities for EMS workers while improving response capabilities and patient outcomes in the region. Upon completion of the first cohort, the program will seek full accreditation.

“Launching this program allows our team members to expand their knowledge and skills so they can better serve our community,” said Nina Piatt, EMS captain and program director.

AdventHealth leaders say the initiative is part of a broader effort to invest in workforce development and build a stronger emergency response system by training paramedics locally.

The program is currently offered exclusively to AdventHealth EMTs at a reduced cost compared to traditional training programs.

Hospital officials say graduates will be equipped to deliver advanced, life-saving care and help ensure high-quality treatment for patients during critical emergencies.

The AdventHealth Gordon Foundation is now accepting applications for scholarships for a select group of nursing and allied health students.

Current high school students, recent graduates who have earned their CNA certification, and students who have already been accepted into or are enrolled in a nursing or allied health program are encouraged to apply. Applicants must maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher.

Eligible allied health fields include ultrasound, paramedic/EMT, laboratory, respiratory therapy, and radiology.

Applications are available in person at the AdventHealth Georgia Foundation office at AdventHealth Gordon, Resource Center 2, 1035 Red Bud Road in Calhoun, as well as online. The deadline to apply is April 18 at 3 p.m.
