Trion Recreation Department Seeking Volunteer Coaches

The Trion Recreation Department is looking for volunteers to help coach youth sports this season and is currently seeking coaches for several teams.

The department needs:

  • 2 coaches for 6U Soccer
  • 1 coach for 8U Soccer
  • 1 coach for 10U Volleyball

Officials say coaching is a great opportunity to make a difference in the lives of young athletes by teaching teamwork, building character and having fun.

Anyone interested in volunteering is encouraged to contact the Trion Recreation Department for more information about becoming a coach.

Glitch Prompts Trion Dog Park Access Updates

Last week, the Trion Recreation Department announced an important update for dog park users: all previously issued access cards are now obsolete.

According to the department, troubleshooting issues with the park’s keypad system required a full reset, making the older keys unusable.

Anyone who has not received a new key within the past couple of weeks will need to stop by the Trion Recreation Department to obtain an updated one. Officials said the change was necessary to resolve the keypad malfunction and apologized for any inconvenience.

The Town of Trion officially opened the dog park earlier this year at the track field off Simmons Street. The fenced-in facility provides a dedicated area where residents can exercise, train and socialize their dogs.

The park, inspired by Brinley A. Corbin, includes green mesh perimeter fencing, landscaped planting beds and a shaded seating area for owners.

Town officials say the dog park continues to receive steady use and hope the updated key system will provide smooth and secure access moving forward.

The Trion Recreation Department is open during regular business hours for key replacement.

Trion Recreation Extends Soccer And Football Registration Through August 5

The Trion Recreation Department has extended registration for both youth soccer and football through Wednesday, August 5.

The department says additional children are still needed for the upcoming soccer and football seasons, giving families a few more days to complete registration.

Trion Recreation is also seeking volunteer coaches for the 6-and-under, 8-and-under, and 12-and-under soccer teams. Organizers say coaching provides an opportunity to mentor young athletes, encourage teamwork and support Trion’s youth programs.

Parents interested in registering a child, along with anyone willing to volunteer as a soccer coach, should contact the Trion Recreation Department before the August 5 deadline.
