Ms. Martha Ruth Camp, Obit. (M)

Ms. Martha Ruth Camp, age 79, of Trion, GA, departed this life Thursday morning, July 23, 2026, peacefully at her home.

Martha was a native of Chattooga County, having lived in Trion, Georgia all of her life.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Bonnie Mae Lowrance, her father, William A. Lowrance, her brothers, Gary Lowrance and Alvin Lavon Lowrance, and her sister, Rosemary Lowrance.

Martha lived a full life serving her community as a nurse after putting herself through school, having started her career in 1973.  Martha, a big sister, loved her family deeply, and during her youth, enjoyed working in her yard tending to her many rose bushes when she was able.  Her relationship with her granddaughter, Emily, was a cherished one.  She looked forward to Emily’s latest book adventure and her writing skills.  And of course, they both loved watching the Game Show Network in between Emily’s stories.

Although the past year for Martha was an arduous 12 months, Martha was truly grateful for the care she received from her hospice team, and she was always delighted to get a sweet treat cooked by her granddaughter for them to enjoy together.

Martha is survived by her son, Patrick Henry Camp (and Tina Crowder), daughter, Erica Suzanne Thompson, her son-in-law, Don W. Thompson, and her granddaughter, Emily Suzanne Thompson.  She is also survived by her brother, Richard (Pam) Lowrance, and her several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, July 26, 2026, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jennifer Lee officiating.

Ms. Camp will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service on Sunday.

Interment will be held at a later time privately in West Hill Cemetery.
