Georgia gas prices decreased at the pump compared to a week ago. Georgia drivers are now paying an average price of $3.22 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline (subject to change overnight). Monday’s state average was 3 cents less than a week ago, 2 cents more than a month ago, and 15 cents less than this time last year. It now costs $48.30 to fill a 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline. Drivers are now paying at least $2.00 less to fill up at the pump compared to a year ago.

Over the past few days, WZQZ has reported the arrest of two different people charged with being a “super speeder”. It isn’t a charge that is seen every day on the arrest report and some have asked, “what exactly is a super speeder?”.
The Town of Trion will have a regular Workshop / Council Meeting in the Town Hall Conference Room, Thursday, February 23, 2023. The Workshop will begin at 6:00p.m. and the Regular Meeting will follow shortly after. Dr. Gary Voccio with the Northwest Georgia Department of Public Health says that while we are still in flu season, the cases of flu are relatively low in the ten-county region that includes Chattooga County.
First United Methodist Church in Summerville invites the public for an Ash Wednesday service that will be held at the church fellowship hall this Wednesday evening. Also, the church will have an Ash Wednesday Service from 7 AM – 9 AM at DIRT on Commerce Street in Summerville. Anyone is welcome to attend either service.
Former Georgia Governor and United States President Jimmy Carter is at home in Plains, Georgia with hospice care. The Carter Family released a statement over the weekend that said the decision to forgo any further medical intervention for the 98-year-old Carter was one that the former President and his family all agreed to.

Work is moving forward on the new freestanding emergency department for Chattooga County. Last Friday, Atrium Health Floyd held a hiring event for the new emergency department at the Chattooga County Civic Center. Atrium Health Floyd says that there will be around 200 new jobs at the emergency department which is being constructed near Walmart in Trion. A week from tomorrow, on Tuesday, February 28th, the Chattooga County Land Development Commission is expected to give the final approval for the emergency department at a meeting at the Chattooga County Civic Center at 6 PM. The meeting is open to the public and there will be a Zoom link to attend the meeting virtually. A link for that Zoom meeting will be posted on the county government’s website.
Summerville Police were dispatched to Martin Street recently after a report about a man trying to enter a residence without permission.
