Miss Chattooga Pageant Marking 75th Anniversary

Get ready for a dazzling celebration as the Miss Chattooga County Pageant marks its 75th Anniversary – a Diamond Jubilee! This year promises to be extra special, with new divisions to honor the pageant’s history and celebrate the women of Chattooga County. Organizers are excited to introduce the “Miss Legacy Chattooga County” and “Miss Forever Chattooga County” divisions, open to women ages 25+ who live in Chattooga County and all former winners, respectively. The deadline for entries is Thursday, May 15th, 2025! Late entries will not be accepted. There are three ways to submit the entry fee: in person at the CHS front office, at the CHS cafeteria on May 15th from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, or online via GoFan. Annual Chattooga County Plant / Seed Swap This Saturday

Organizers are planning the 5th Annual Chattooga County Plant Swap, set to take place on Saturday, May 3rd, from 2 PM to 6 PM at Teloga Springs Farm. This popular local event, known for its vibrant community atmosphere and diverse range of plants is open to the public and anyone interested in gardening is invited to attend.  In addition to the plant and seed swap, there will be local vendors and food vendors as well. The Chattooga County Plant Swap offers free admission, making it a perfect opportunity for families, gardening aficionados, and food lovers alike.  The event is held at 6327 Trion Teloga Road in the Teloga Community.

Future Rangers Wanted! James H. “Sloppy” Floyd State Park Announces Jr. Ranger Camp Dates

Budding outdoor enthusiasts ages 6-12 are invited to immerse themselves in nature this summer at the James H. “Sloppy” Floyd State Park’s Jr. Ranger Camp. Two exciting sessions are scheduled for June 12th-13th and July 14th-15th, offering a fun and educational experience for young nature lovers. For a registration fee of $45, campers will spend two action-packed days alongside Park Rangers, learning valuable outdoor skills and discovering the park’s diverse ecosystem. Activities include archery basics, a chance to try their hand at fishing, and engaging lessons about the varied wildlife that calls the park home. The Jr. Ranger Camp runs from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM each day.  A second Jr. Ranger Camp for ages 13-15 will be held on June 23, 2025 from 8:30 AM until 4:00 PM. It’s a fantastic opportunity for children and teens to connect with nature, develop new skills, and learn about conservation in a fun and supportive environment. Trion Rec Department Announces Adult Basketball League For May 2025

The Trion Recreation Department has announced the launch of a new Adult Basketball League, set to tip-off in May 2025! This is a fantastic opportunity for adults in the community to stay active, socialize, and enjoy the thrill of competitive basketball. Teams can register for just $50 per player, with a minimum of 5 players required per team. The league will consist of an 8-game regular season, culminating in a single-elimination playoff tournament for the top 4 teams. Trion Veterans’ Committee Hosts Smoked Boston Butt Fundraiser

The Trion Veterans’ Committee is hosting a fundraiser: a Smoked Boston Butt sale on May 24th, 2025, from 9:00 AM to Noon at the Trion Park Pavilion, located at 250 Simmons St, Trion, GA 30753. Chattooga Young Farmer Vidalia Onion Sale Happening Now

For another year, the Chattooga County Young Farmers are offering residents the chance to purchase genuine, Georgia-grown Vidalia onions as part of their annual fundraising effort. These sweet, mild onions, a Georgia staple, will be shipped directly to Chattooga County in late April. The Chattooga County Young Farmers are now accepting orders for the highly anticipated onions. The deadline to place your order is April 25th.Pick-up for the onions is tentatively scheduled for mid-May. Those who purchase will be contacted directly with the exact date and time for pick-up as the date approaches. Interested residents can place their orders now. Checks should be made payable to the Chattooga County Young Farmers. This fundraiser supports the organization’s efforts to promote agricultural education and leadership development in the community.
