The Salvation Army of Rome officially kicked off its annual Red Kettle Campaign on Friday, November 21, at noon outside Hobby Lobby on Shorter Avenue. The storied Christmas campaign is the organization’s largest fundraising effort of the year, powering programs that provide critical support to families and individuals in Floyd, Polk, and Chattooga County.
Dry Valley Baptist Church in Summerville will host a Thanksgiving Dinner-in-a-Box Drive-Thru this Sunday, November 23rd. The church will provide ready-to-take-home Thanksgiving meals for families in the community, and volunteers will be on hand to place the boxed dinners directly into each vehicle. Participants will not need to get out of their cars. The drive-thru distribution will take place in the side parking lot of Dry Valley Baptist Church, located at 451 Dry Valley Church Road in Summerville. The event begins at 1:30 p.m. Church organizers say the goal is to offer a simple, convenient way to help families prepare for the holiday.
The Chattooga County FFA is teaming up with several local partners to help support families this holiday season. The organization announced it will distribute 100 Community Commodity Boxes filled with fresh foods and pantry staples to families in need across Chattooga County.
Chattooga County families needing extra support with Thanksgiving meals are encouraged to arrive early for today’s 9th Annual Home for the Holidays Food Distribution, hosted by Chattooga Family Connection.
