Golfers and community supporters will have an opportunity to hit the course for a cause this fall as Recovery Alive and Connect City Church prepare to host the Fairways to Freedom charity golf tournament.

A community that has been served for decades by Gaylesville Fire & Rescue Fire Chief Bobby Millican and his family is being asked to rally around them as they face a difficult period involving serious health challenges and mounting expenses.

Lyerly Elementary School is inviting golfers and community supporters to take part in an upcoming golf tournament fundraiser benefiting the school’s eighth-grade trip.
The Study Cade Golf Tournament Fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, September 12, at Little Mole Run Golf Course in Mentone, Alabama.
The tournament will begin at 9 a.m. Eastern Time, 8 a.m. Central Time.
Organizers say registration is now open, and individuals and businesses interested in supporting the fundraiser can participate by registering a team or individual golfer or by sponsoring a hole.
Those interested in registering or becoming a sponsor are asked to contact Zach White at zwhite@chattooga.k12.ga.us.
Payments can be made at Lyerly School or mailed to 150 Oak Hill Road, Lyerly, GA 30730.
The fundraiser is being organized to help support the school’s upcoming eighth-grade trip.
Little Mole Run Golf Course is located at 741 County Road 647 in Mentone, Alabama.
Organizers are encouraging area golfers, businesses and community members to come out and support Lyerly Elementary students while enjoying a morning on the golf course.

Dancing With Our Stars – Chattooga Style 2026 is happening this evening at the Chattooga High School Auditorium.
The event will feature local participants taking the stage in a dance competition to benefit CRC Chattooga and its work to fight hunger, feed hope and support families across the community.
Audience members can cheer for their favorite teams, and every dollar donated will count as a vote. Organizers say the event is designed to bring the community together for a night of entertainment while also raising support for local families in need.
The VIP experience begins at 5:30 p.m., with the main show starting at 7 p.m.

Support the Chattooga County High School football program while shopping for a new mattress during a special one-day Mattress Fundraiser on Saturday, July 25.
The sale will be held from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. in the Chattooga High School Main Gym. Organizers say more than 25 mattress styles will be available to try, with sizes ranging from twin to king from brands including Purple, Therapedic, Southerland, Corsicana, Tranquility and PureCare.
Adjustable bases, luxury pillows and mattress protectors will also be available. Delivery, financing and full factory warranties are offered, and all forms of payment will be accepted.
Every purchase benefits the Chattooga County High School football program, making it an opportunity to support local student-athletes while saving on a new mattress.

Tickets are now on sale for the Community Resource Center of Chattooga’s second annual “Dancing With Our Stars – Chattooga Style” fundraiser.
The event benefits the Community Resource Center and is presented by VistaLife and Vitality Labs. Local community members have volunteered to take the stage in support of the CRC and its mission of serving families throughout Chattooga County.
The fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, July 25, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Chattooga High School Auditorium.
Organizers say last year’s inaugural event raised more than $58,000 to support the CRC’s programs and services. They hope this year’s event will build on that success while providing an entertaining evening for the community.

A community event aimed at supporting local special needs programs and Special Olympics athletes is happening today in Summerville.
“Spark Day” will be held today, Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Dowdy Park. The event is being organized by the Speak Life Chattooga County Special Needs Support Group.
Organizers say the fundraiser will support adults participating in Special Olympics activities, along with children involved in summer programs. Community members, vendors, and local resource groups are expected to take part, with no vendor fees for the event.
Spark Day will feature local vendors, baked goods, art, jewelry, T-shirts, coffee, and community resources. Organizers also hope the event helps families connect with programs and services available throughout Northwest Georgia.
The goal is to make Spark Day an annual community tradition focused on inclusion, fun, and support for special needs families across the region.

Cars, trucks, motorcycles, live music and family fun will come together for a good cause when the Revs for Resources Rally rolls into Trion Memorial Park on Saturday, July 11, from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Residents looking for bargains while supporting a worthy cause will have an opportunity this weekend as Flourish Foster Care Closet & Support, Inc. hosts a Yard Sale for a Cause at The Well in downtown Summerville.
The fundraiser will take place on Friday, June 12, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Saturday, June 13, from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at The Well, located at 141 W. Washington Street in Summerville.
Organizers say all proceeds will benefit The Well and the foster, kinship, and adoptive families served throughout Northwest Georgia. Shoppers will find a wide variety of items including furniture, home décor, clothing, toys, household items, books, seasonal merchandise, and more.
A BBQ food truck will also be on-site with plates, sandwiches, and other menu items available for purchase. A portion of food sales will benefit The Well and its mission.
According to organizers, every purchase helps Flourish continue providing clothing, essential items, support programs, meals, and community resources for children and families impacted by foster care.
Donations are still being accepted during the work week leading up to the event.
