Residents across Chattooga County and Northwest Georgia can expect one more day of unusually warm weather today before a cold front pushes temperatures back down early this week.
The community is invited out today for the 1st Annual Lucky Charm Cheer Classic, a cheerleading competition and fundraiser benefiting Georgia Elite Allstars and Trion High School Cheerleading.
The event will take place today, Sunday, March 22, at 2 p.m. in the Trion High School gymnasium.
The competition will feature recreation, performance, school, and all-star cheer and dance teams from across the region. Organizers say 21 teams and more than 200 athletes from surrounding counties are expected to compete, making for an afternoon filled with energy, entertainment, and community spirit.
Proceeds from the event will help support athlete development, competition opportunities, uniforms, and other program needs for both organizations.
Event organizer Tashia Knapp says the goal is to provide athletes with a fun opportunity to perform while also strengthening local cheer programs. She says community support for the event has been overwhelming.
Chattooga County Commissioner Andy Allen says he and Sheriff Mark Schrader will be reviewing bids for a new roof at the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office on Underwood Dairy Road in Trion.
Enrollment is now open for students currently enrolled in Trion City Schools, including those attending Trion Elementary School, with families encouraged to complete the process by April 1st.
School officials say students in grades K through 11 must complete enrollment through the PowerSchool Parent Portal. The process includes submitting required information and proof of residency, along with payment of enrollment fees.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to complete enrollment as soon as possible to ensure a smooth start for the upcoming school year. For more information, families can visit the Trion Elementary School website or contact the school directly.
