Chattooga High School is gearing up for a busy week of athletic competition and school events as the countdown to graduation continues.
According to school officials, Track and Field athletes will compete in the Region meet on Monday at Gordon Central. The tennis team will be in action Tuesday through Friday in the State Playoffs, while the baseball team is also scheduled to compete in the State Playoffs from Wednesday through Saturday.
In addition to athletics, the school will host its Choral Spring Concert on Friday, April 24 at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria.
School leaders note that graduation is now just five weeks away, with several activities planned in the coming weeks as the school year winds down.

Student-athletes at Chattooga High School and Trion High School will have an opportunity to receive free sports physicals ahead of the upcoming school year.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 2 at 8 a.m. at Atrium Health Floyd Physical Therapy and Rehab, located on Highway 27 in Summerville.
Officials say the annual screening is open to students entering grades 9 through 12 and is required for participation in high school athletics. The physicals will include a review of medical history, vision exams, blood pressure checks, orthopedic screenings, and general sports evaluations.
Students must bring a completed and updated GHSA sports physical form in order to be seen. Parents or guardians are also required to complete and sign all necessary paperwork prior to the appointment.
Organizers say the event helps ensure student-athletes are prepared and cleared for participation while also making the process more accessible for families across Chattooga County and Trion.

The 2026 Georgia Athletic Directors Association (GADA) Conference wrapped up in Athens, Georgia — the “Classic City” — after a multi-day gathering held from February 27 through March 2, 2026.
The annual conference is the largest statewide event for athletic administrators, bringing together school leaders from across Georgia for networking, professional development, and recognition of excellence in athletic programs — including honors such as Athletic Director of the Year awards.
Among this year’s recipients, Trion City Schools Athletic Director Jason Lanham was recognized as Athletic Director of the Year for Region 7A–DII, representing Northwest Georgia on the statewide stage.
Lanham credited the Trion community for the honor, saying he is “extremely grateful” to be supported by his school system, administrators, coaches, athletes, and students — emphasizing the team effort behind successful athletic programs.
