CHS Class of 1996 Planning 30-Year Reunion

The Chattooga High School Class of 1996 is beginning plans for its upcoming 30-year class reunion.

Organizers say the reunion is tentatively scheduled for October 3, and efforts are underway to connect with as many classmates as possible.

A Facebook group titled “CHS Class of 1996 – 30-year Reunion” has been created to share updates and information. Class members are encouraged to join the group to stay informed as plans continue to develop.

Classmates are encouraged to get involved early as planning continues for what is expected to be a memorable reunion event.

Special Needs Support Group Meeting Set For April 25 In Chattooga County

Families across Chattooga County are invited to attend an upcoming Special Needs Support Group meeting later this month.

The Speak Life Chattooga County Special Needs Family Support Group will meet on Saturday, April 25 at 11 a.m. at DIRT Pour Coffee and Café in Summerville.

Organizers say the event will feature guest speaker Judge Gary Woods, who will discuss important topics including guardianship and wills. In addition, parents and caregivers are expected to share personal experiences and advice, particularly focusing on the transition period after high school, including ages 18 to 22.

The meeting is open to all families, caregivers, and individuals with special needs of all ages. Organizers emphasize that the event is free, requires no registration, and is open to those both inside and outside of Chattooga County.

Attendees are encouraged to come for support, information, and fellowship, as well as to connect with others in the community.

Scouting America Troop 7 Hosting Open House In Summerville

Scouting America Troop 7 in Summerville is inviting local youth and families to an upcoming open house to learn more about scouting opportunities in the community.

The event will be held Monday, April 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the Scout Hut located at 220 Highway 100 in Summerville.

Organizers say the open house will give attendees a chance to meet current scouts and adult leaders, learn about camping and outdoor adventures, and explore leadership and service opportunities offered through the program. There will also be time to ask questions about joining Troop 7.

The event is open to youth ages 11 to 17, along with parents and guardians. No prior scouting experience is required.

Everyone is invited to come out and discover what Scouting America has to offer.

The City of Summerville is inviting the community out to Dowdy Park this weekend for the annual Spring Market.

The event will take place Saturday, April 18, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Dowdy Park.

Organizers say the Spring Market is a great way to welcome the season, featuring a wide variety of vendors and activities. Shoppers can browse arts and crafts, jewelry, baked goods, body and hair care products, wooden items, live plants, specialty pet items, food, and more.

The event will also include live entertainment, and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and enjoy the day.

Free Pet Vaccines And Microchipping Event Set For May 1 In Summerville

Pet owners in Chattooga County will have an opportunity to protect their animals at no cost during an upcoming free vaccination and microchipping event.

The event is scheduled for Friday, May 1 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Tractor Supply, located at 11788 Highway 27 in Summerville.

Organizers say the clinic will offer rabies vaccines for dogs and cats, DHPP vaccines for dogs, FVRCP vaccines for cats, and microchipping services.

The event is being held for dogs and cats belonging to Chattooga County residents and is sponsored by the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia in partnership with the Chattooga County Animal Shelter.

All dogs must be on a leash and all cats must be in a crate.

Officials say the event is a great opportunity for pet owners to ensure their animals are up to date on vaccinations and properly identified.

Chattooga Indians Football is calling on players and parents to attend an important meeting as preparations begin for the upcoming seasons.

The Chattooga County 4-H Shotgun Team is inviting the community to take part in a Modified Trap Fundraiser coming up on Saturday, April 18 at 10 a.m. The event will be held at the Old Landfill on Butler Dairy Road in Summerville.

Organizers say the fundraiser will feature a four-man team competition, with an entry fee of $100 per team. Participants will have the chance to compete for cash and various prizes, with concessions also available on site.

The event supports the Chattooga County 4-H Shotgun Team and its efforts to provide youth with opportunities for skill development, teamwork, and competitive shooting sports. Trion Football To Host Youth Camp In June

Trion Football will host a youth football camp June 3, 4, and 5 at Sam R. McCain Stadium.

The camp is open to children ages 5 through 12 and will run each evening from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

Participants will receive skills, drills, and instruction from Trion coaches and players, giving young athletes a chance to learn fundamentals and improve their game.

The cost is $30 per camper, which includes a t-shirt. Payment and registration will be accepted the day of camp at the stadium. Cash or checks will be accepted, with checks made payable to Trion Football.
