Chattooga County Rabies Clinic Scheduled

 

Summerville Veterinary Clinic will host a rabies vaccination clinic on Saturday, May 16, at Chattooga High School.

The clinic will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the school’s parking lot. Pet owners are asked to enter from the Highway 100 entrance and follow posted signs and arrows.

Rabies vaccinations will be available for $10 each. The clinic will be conducted as a drive-through service, with pets remaining inside vehicles while vaccinations are administered.

Organizers say the event offers a convenient and affordable way for residents to keep their pets up to date on rabies vaccinations.

Back To School Bash Seeking Donations And Community Partners

Chattooga Family Connection is preparing for this year’s Back to School Bash, scheduled for Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 4 until 6 PM at Chattooga High School.

Organizer Maisha Ludy says last year’s event was a major success, serving a total of 396 students as they prepared to return to the classroom. That included 254 elementary students, 97 middle school students and 45 high school students.

This year, organizers are hoping to make the event even bigger and better for local families. They are currently accepting school supply donations, monetary donations, and community partners or vendors who would like to set up at the event and share helpful resources with families.

The Back to School Bash will serve students from both Chattooga and Trion. Families will be able to connect with local resources while students receive support and supplies for the upcoming school year.

Wildflower Hike Planned At Sloppy Floyd State Park

James H. “Sloppy” Floyd State Park will host a Wildflower Hike on Saturday, May 2, giving participants a chance to explore local trails while learning about native plants.

The guided hike will begin at 10 a.m., with park rangers leading visitors along the Lower Lake Trail. Participants will learn about Georgia’s native wildflowers and which species are most important to pollinators.

Attendees are asked to meet at the park office by 10 a.m. and should bring plenty of water and wear comfortable walking shoes.

The cost is $3 per person, and a $10 park pass is required. Registration is also required in advance.

Main Stage Entertainment Announced For 2026 Honeybee Festival In LaFayette

A big announcement has been made for one of Northwest Georgia’s most anticipated annual events. Organizers of the Honeybee Festival in LaFayette have officially revealed the main stage entertainment lineup for 2026.

Headlining this year’s festival will be Channing Wilson, Shane Profitt, and The Band Perry, bringing a full day of live music to downtown LaFayette.

The Honeybee Festival is set for May 30th, running from 9 a.m. until 11 p.m., and once again will offer free admission for the community.

Local sponsors, including Mitchell’s Plumbing and P.O.T.S., are helping make the event possible while also supporting efforts to keep the festival clean, organized, and family-friendly.

The festival is expected to feature a full day of activities, including live entertainment, food vendors, and attractions for all ages.

Organizers are encouraging residents and visitors alike to come out, enjoy the music, and take part in one of the region’s signature community celebrations.

“Battle at the Bighorn” Tournament Set for Summerville Rec Center

A big weekend of youth baseball is coming to Chattooga County as the “Battle at the Bighorn” All-Star Rec Tournament takes place May 29th and 30th at the Summerville Recreation Center.

The event, formerly known as “Rumble by the River,” will feature recreation league teams only, with no select teams allowed. Age divisions include 6U co-ed along with 8U, 10U, and 12U boys baseball.

Games will be played at the Summerville Rec Center on Highway 100, with a three-game guarantee for participating teams. The entry fee is set at $75 per team, and GRPA rules will apply throughout the tournament.

Organizers say the two-day event will crown one champion, bringing together young athletes from across Chattooga County and northwest Georgia for a competitive and family-friendly weekend.

WZQZ Pet Of The Week: Meet Ember

This week’s WZQZ Pet of the Week is Ember, a sweet and playful dog waiting for her forever home at the Chattooga County Animal Shelter.

Ember is a female dog who is good with other dogs, loves toys, and has a friendly personality that would make her a great addition to many homes. Shelter staff describe her as sweet and playful, making her a wonderful option for anyone looking for a fun-loving companion.

Trion High Softball To Host Youth Camp In June

Young athletes in Chattooga County will have the opportunity to sharpen their softball skills this summer as Trion High School hosts its annual youth softball camp.

The camp is scheduled for June 1 and 2 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the J.W. Greenwood Athletic Complex at the Trion High School softball field. It is open to children ages 5 through 12.

Campers will receive instruction in fundamental skills including hitting, throwing, pitching, fielding, and baserunning. The cost is $30 per participant, which includes a camp T-shirt.

Participants are asked to bring a water bottle, bat, and glove. Organizers also note that the camp will be held rain or shine.

Registration is open now, and those who sign up by May 8 are guaranteed to receive a T-shirt.

6th Annual Chattooga County Plant Swap Set for May 2

Plant lovers across Chattooga County are invited to take part in a popular community event returning next month.

The 6th Annual Chattooga County Plant Swap is scheduled for Saturday, May 2nd from 2 to 6 p.m. at Teloga Spring Farm, located at 9505 Highway 337 in Summerville.

Organizers say the free event will bring together the community for an afternoon of plants, fellowship, and fun. Attendees are encouraged to bring plants to swap, along with friends and family.

This year’s event will also feature raffle tickets, food trucks, a bake sale, and a variety of vendors.

All donations from the event will benefit the Animal Advocates of Chattooga County and the Teloga Fire Department.

Organizers note the event is cash-only, and cell service may be limited in the area.

Tiny Tribe Cheer Camp Set for June at Chattooga High School

Local families will have a chance to kick off summer with energy and excitement as the Tiny Tribe Cheer Camp returns to Chattooga High School June 15–16.

The two-day camp will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day and is open to children ages 3 to 13. Participants will learn cheer fundamentals, build confidence, and enjoy a fun, high-energy environment alongside Chattooga cheerleaders and coaches.

Organizers say the camp is designed for all experience levels, with a focus on introducing young athletes to the basics of cheerleading in a supportive setting.

The cost to attend is $50, which includes instruction, activities, and camp participation.

The camp will be held at Chattooga High School, located at 989 Highway 114 in Summerville. Participants must be potty trained to attend, and registration is now open.

The Tiny Tribe Cheer Camp has become a popular annual tradition, drawing young cheerleaders from across the area eager to learn new skills and have fun.

Summerville Collective To Host Yard Sale and BBQ Fundraiser April 25

The Summerville Collective is inviting the community out for a yard sale and BBQ fundraiser later this month.

The event is set for Saturday, April 25 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 83 Highway 48 in Summerville. Organizers say attendees can expect a variety of unique items for sale along with food from the “From the Ashes BBQ and Brisket” food truck.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Summerville Collective, a Christian-based homeschool collaborative that provides academic and enrichment programs through Connect City Church.

Those interested in participating can rent a table space for $10 to sell their own items and keep the proceeds. Donations for the yard sale are also being accepted, with organizers asking donors to label items accordingly.

Organizers say the fundraiser is a great opportunity for the community to support local education efforts while enjoying food, fellowship, and bargain shopping.
