Trion Golf Team Competes In Area Tournament Today

The Trion High School golf team traveled to Greensboro, Georgia over the weekend to compete in the GHSA Area Tournament today.

The Bulldogs enter postseason play with several golfers putting together steady performances this season. Clayton Loughridge leads the team with 414 total strokes and a 59.1 stroke average, followed by Danalee Lively with 428 total strokes and a 61.1 average.

Lincoln Hefner and Mollie Corbin are tied at 440 total strokes, both averaging 62.9. Kendal Loughridge follows closely with 441 total strokes and a 63 average. Isaac Helwig enters with 469 total strokes and a 67 average, while Blake Bramlett has 477 total strokes and a 68.14 average.

Those numbers were recorded prior to Trion’s match against Pepperell last Friday at Trion Golf Course.

Today’s Area Tournament will determine which teams and individuals advance in postseason competition, as Trion looks to make a strong showing in Greensboro.

Trion Football To Host Youth Camp In June

Trion Football will host a youth football camp June 3, 4, and 5 at Sam R. McCain Stadium.

The camp is open to children ages 5 through 12 and will run each evening from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

Participants will receive skills, drills, and instruction from Trion coaches and players, giving young athletes a chance to learn fundamentals and improve their game.

The cost is $30 per camper, which includes a t-shirt. Payment and registration will be accepted the day of camp at the stadium. Cash or checks will be accepted, with checks made payable to Trion Football.

 

Chattooga High Athletics Schedule Ahead Of Spring Break

Chattooga High School athletics has released its schedule for the upcoming week as students head into the final days before spring break.

Action begins Monday, March 30th, with JV Baseball traveling to Armuchee for a 5 PM game.

On Tuesday, March 31st, Varsity Baseball will also be on the road at Armuchee, with first pitch set for 5 PM.

Thursday, April 2nd will be a busy day for the Indians:

  • Track and Field competes at Armuchee at 4 PM
  • Tennis travels to Fannin County for a 4 PM match
  • Varsity Baseball hosts Armuchee at home at 5:30 PM

The week wraps up Friday, April 3rd, with Varsity Baseball back on the road at Armuchee for a 5 PM start.

Fans are encouraged to come out and support Chattooga athletes as they close out the week before spring break.

Busy Week of Athletics and Events Ahead at Chattooga High School

Chattooga High School has a full schedule of athletic events and activities planned for the week of March 8–14, according to Assistant Principal and Athletic Director J. Mark Turner.

The week begins Monday with JV Baseball hosting Ridgeland at 5:00 p.m. On Tuesday, the Track and Field team will compete at home at 4:00 p.m., while tennis plays Coosa at the Rome Tennis Center at 4:00 p.m. Later that evening, JV and Varsity baseball travel to Dade County at 5:00 p.m., and soccer teams travel to Coosa for a 5:30 p.m. match.

Thursday features several home events including soccer against Dade County at 5:00 p.m. at Ben Windom Stadium and JV and Varsity baseball hosting Dade County at 5:00 p.m. The CTAE Advisory Meeting and Dinner will also be held Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. in the CHS Cafeteria.

On Friday, tennis hosts Model at the Rome Tennis Center at 4:00 p.m., soccer travels to Christian Heritage at 5:00 p.m., and JV baseball plays at Dade County at 5:30 p.m.

The week concludes Saturday with Varsity baseball traveling to North Sand Mountain for a noon game.
