The special speaker will be Minister Dexter Hooks in the 11 AM service and Rev. Jeffery Scott Copeland in the 2 PM service, Sunday, March 5th. Lunch will be served following the morning service. The Georgia State Patrol Post 38 in Rome will be hosting a recruiting event at Post 38 coming up on February 28, 2023 from 10 AM until 2 PM. GSP recruiters will be on hand to explain opportunities within the Georgia State Patrol. Applicants will be able to gain a greater understanding of the application process, fitness requirements, elements of the job, and pay and benefit information. Chattooga High School will host the first round of Basketball State Playoffs tomorrow evening. The Lady Indians will play at 6 PM and the boys will play at 7 PM. Doors will open at 5 PM. Due to state requirements, all tickets must be purchased through GoFan. Your ticket must be a live link as you enter, screenshots will not be valid. Students are asked to wear Red tomorrow to support the Indians.

Last week, WZQZ News reported about a man who fled from the scene of an accident and barricaded himself in a bathroom at a convenience store because, in his words, “he didn’t want to deal with police”. It turns out, he had good reason for wanting to avoid police – he was driving a stolen vehicle at the time of the crash.
Summerville Police responded to a call on Saturday about a gun being found by a pedestrian. Police say that the gun was found near the sidewalk at the intersection of Tyler Street and Rome Boulevard. The pistol was a Taurus Millennium G2 PT-111, 9MM and was found with the safety off and an empty chamber, with five bullets inside the gun’s magazine. The gun was taken by police and placed into an evidence locker at the Summerville Police Department.
