Drug Theft Reported

A narcotics investigator with the Summerville Police Department is looking into a report of stolen medication.  The theft was reported last week on Fourth Street in Summerville.  The complainant said that prescribed medication was stolen from her night stand beside her bed.  The complainant named a possible suspect to police.  The incident remains under investigation.

Chattooga Young Farmers BBQ Lunch

The Chattooga County Young Farmers are selling BBQ Lunches for $5. The sack lunch (BBQ sandwich, chips, dessert) will be available for pick up at the Chattooga County Ag Center on Friday, March 24 from 11-1. Deliveries available to schools and local businesses purchasing more than 5 lunches. Young Farmers will contact those ordering lunches to collect payment and confirm delivery. Georgia Man’s Body Found In Louisianan

The Baton Rouge Police Department has confirmed that they located missing Nathan Millard’s body early Monday morning.  Millard, a business executive from Covington, Georgia, had been to a LSU basketball game before his body was found.

Tables & Chairs Stolen From Storage

Summerville Police are investigating the theft of over $12,000 worth of folding tables and chairs.  Pam Albert reported to police that someone had broken into a mobile home that she uses to store the items on Y Street.  The complainant said that there were 25 round tables, 7 long tables, 4 short tables, 2 carts and 125 white folding chairs that were missing.  The complainant was also able to name a possible suspect to police.  The incident remains under investigation.

Menlo Man Charged With DUI In Summerville

A fifty-three-year-old Menlo man was charged with DUI on Sunday evening.  Summerville Police received a call from an off-duty Chattooga County deputy about a white, Chevrolet Silverado that was driving “all over the roadway”.  Police responded to Highway 27, near Highland Avenue and initiated a traffic stop.  According to Summerville Police, the driver smelled of alcohol.  Police administered a field sobriety test and the driver also submitted to a blood test that showed he was over the legal limit.  Charles Wayne Powell, of a Highway 337, Menlo address was booked into the Chattooga County Jail on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Man Sleeping In Front Of Store Arrested For Drug Possession

A Summerville man was arrested last week after he was found sleeping in front of the Circle K convenience store on Commerce Street in Summerville.  Police say that they responded to a call shortly after 4 AM and found the suspect sleeping.  When police woke the man, he told them that he had no where to go.  The store clerk told police that the suspect had attempted to purchase beer earlier in the night.  While patting the suspect down, police found a glass pipe and suspected methamphetamine.  The suspect told police, “I know I’m going to jail”.  Thirty-five-year-old Eddie Vaughn was booked into the Chattooga County Jail on drug possession and possession of drug-related object charges.
