Families across Chattooga County are invited to kick off the holiday season with a magical evening at James H. “Sloppy” Floyd State Park as the Friends of Sloppy Floyd present this year’s Peppermint Project. The festive event will be held on Saturday, December 13th from 4 to 7 p.m.
Santa will be making a special visit to Leroy Massey Elementary School on Sunday, November 30th. The event runs from 3 until 6 p.m., and families are asked to park in the back parking lot. Admission is five dollars per child, or ten dollars total for families with multiple children. Kids can enjoy holiday hot chocolate, festive cookies, and a make-and-take ornament craft. Parents should bring a phone or camera to take pictures with Santa. That’s Santa at LMES on Sunday, November 30th from 3 to 6 p.m.
The Chattooga County FFA is teaming up with several local partners to help support families this holiday season. The organization announced it will distribute 100 Community Commodity Boxes filled with fresh foods and pantry staples to families in need across Chattooga County.
The Center Post Community Center is inviting the public to its annual Christmas Market coming up on Saturday, November 29th. The event will run from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. and promises a festive day of shopping, food, and holiday cheer.
There’s Hope For The Hungry will be distributing food at the South Summerville Baptist Church this Wednesday November 19th from 10am until 1pm. No ID is required but food must be picked up in person.

Chattooga County residents are encouraged to get a head start on holiday giving by participating in Blood Assurance’s “Sleighin’ It” Blood Donor Drive next Friday, November 21st. The event aims to bolster local blood supplies and make a critical difference for patients in the community.
