Families in Chattooga County will have a fun, kid-friendly way to ring in the New Year early as the Trion Public Library hosts a “Noon Year’s Eve Party” on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, beginning at 11:30 a.m.
Visitors ringing in the New Year at James H. “Sloppy” Floyd State Park are invited to stay for a traditional Southern meal after their hike. The Friends of James H. “Sloppy” Floyd State Park will host a Black-Eyed Pea Luncheon on January 1, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Picnic Shelter 4.
Families across Chattooga County are invited to celebrate the season at the Holly Jolly Holiday Party at the Chattooga Library on Thursday, Dec. 18, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The event, hosted by the Sara Hightower Regional Library System, is open to the public and geared toward all ages. Organizers say the evening will feature a hot cocoa bar, cookie decorating, and a special holiday visit from Mrs. Claus.
The party will be held at the Chattooga Library, 360 Farrar Drive, Summerville.
There’s Hope For The Hungry will be distributing free food on Wednesday, December 17th from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM. There’s no ID required for the food, but it must be picked up in person. Food will be available at South Summerville Baptist Church, located on Highway 48 in Summerville.
There will be a Blood Assurance blood drive at the Waterville Baptist Church in Trion on Saturday December the 13th from 11am until 4 pm. All donors will receive a free pair of socks. Waterville Baptist Church is located 11815 GA 151 in Trion.
The Summerville First Baptist Church invites you to join them for a free hot meal and dessert at their “Grateful Saturday Blessings” on December 27th from 11am until 1pm. The meal will consist of ham, green beans and sweet potato casserole. Summerville First Baptist Church is located at 125 Georgia Avenue in Summerville.
A popular holiday tradition is returning to Chattooga County this week as the Chattooga County Young Farmers prepare to host their annual Holiday Wreath Class on Thursday, December 4th.
The Trion Heights Baptist Church will present their drive-thru nativity titled “The Light of Christmas” free of charge to the community December the 1st through the 25th. The nativity will be presented each night from 6-8 pm. Trion Heights Baptist Church is located at 301 Rossville Boulevard in Trion.
Families across Chattooga County are invited to kick off the holiday season with a magical evening at James H. “Sloppy” Floyd State Park as the Friends of Sloppy Floyd present this year’s Peppermint Project. The festive event will be held on Saturday, December 13th from 4 to 7 p.m.
Santa will be making a special visit to Leroy Massey Elementary School on Sunday, November 30th. The event runs from 3 until 6 p.m., and families are asked to park in the back parking lot. Admission is five dollars per child, or ten dollars total for families with multiple children. Kids can enjoy holiday hot chocolate, festive cookies, and a make-and-take ornament craft. Parents should bring a phone or camera to take pictures with Santa. That’s Santa at LMES on Sunday, November 30th from 3 to 6 p.m.
