Chattooga High School Basketball Heads to State Tournament

Chattooga High School basketball is headed to the state tournament with both the boys and girls teams set to play on the road this week, and both matchups will require significant travel.

The Chattooga boys will play Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Rabun County High School, while the Chattooga girls will face Putnam County High School on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. The teams will be traveling more than 150 miles for a nearly three-hour trip as they represent Chattooga County on the state stage.

Fans are encouraged to support the Indians and Lady Indians and wish them safe travels and strong performances.

Chattooga Teachers Named Georgia Science Teachers of the Year

 

 

Two educators from the Chattooga County School District are being recognized statewide for excellence in science instruction. Erin Smith of Leroy Massey Elementary and Melissa Rowe of Chattooga High School have been named Georgia Science Teachers Association (GSTA) Science Teachers of the Year, earning top honors at the elementary and high school levels.

District leaders say Smith and Rowe were selected for their dedication, instructional leadership, and passion for engaging students in meaningful science learning. Their recognition, the district says, reflects the high-quality science instruction delivered across Chattooga County classrooms each day.

The GSTA Teacher of the Year Award honors educators with a proven record of excellence and impact on student learning. Award recipients receive a $1,500 honorarium and complimentary registration to the GSTA Annual Conference. The district is encouraging the community to join in congratulating both teachers on the achievement.

Chattooga High School Athletics Schedule for This Week

Chattooga High School has released its athletics schedule for this week, featuring basketball action on Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday, along with wrestling on Friday and Saturday.

Today, Tuesday, January 27, the Indians host Gordon Lee for two basketball games with a 6:00 p.m. start time.

On Friday, January 30, Chattooga travels to Gordon Central for three basketball games, beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Wrestling is also on the schedule Friday and Saturday (January 30–31) for the Area Traditional, with times to be announced.

Basketball continues on Saturday, January 31, with Chattooga traveling to Bremen for three games starting at 1:00 p.m.

Chattooga Indians Football to Honor 2025 Team at Banquet on Jan. 21

The Chattooga Indians football banquet is set for Wednesday, January 21 at 6:00 PM in the Chattooga High School cafeteria. Dinner will be served, with lasagna, salad, and drinks provided.

Parents and visitors are asked to bring dinner rolls/bread and desserts to help complete the meal.

The program is a chance for the community to come together and recognize and celebrate the 2025 team one final time.
