Chattooga County Native Named Chief Of Staff For Congressman Clay Fuller

Chattooga County native Spencer Hogg has been named chief of staff for U.S. Congressman Clay Fuller.

Hogg officially joined Congressman Fuller’s team on April 14th. He brings experience in economic development, government relations, and constituent service to the role.

Most recently, Hogg served as President and CEO of the Rome Floyd County Development Authority. He previously worked with the Northwest Georgia Joint Development Authority, serving as President and CEO, Vice President of Economic Development and Government Relations, and Economic Development Project Manager.

Hogg also has prior experience on Capitol Hill, having worked in the U.S. House of Representatives in the offices of Congressmen Tom Graves and Jody Hice.

In a statement to WZQZ News, Hogg said, “It’s the honor of a lifetime to join Rep. Clay Fuller as his Chief of Staff. Northwest Georgia raised me, and I look forward to fighting every day for the place I am proud to call home. I appreciate the chance to work for a Congressman that is committed to rural values and defending our communities.”

Summerville Woman Charged With Harassing Communications In Rome

A Summerville woman was jailed in Rome after reports said she harassed staff at Atrium Health Floyd.

According to Floyd County Jail records, 43-year-old Treva Misuni Wiggins of Summerville was taken into custody after allegedly contacting the hospital despite previously being banned from the facility.

Reports stated that Wiggins had been informed that Atrium Health Floyd would no longer provide her treatment. Despite that notice, authorities said she allegedly continued to contact the hospital, leading to the charge.

Wiggins was charged with harassing communications.

Lyerly Man Charged With Exploitation Of Elderly Rome Man

A Lyerly man has been booked into the Floyd County Jail after police said he exploited an elderly Rome man who was battling stage 4 lung cancer.

According to reports, 30-year-old Holland Tyler Bishop allegedly took and wrote a check belonging to the victim for his own use without permission.

Police said the check was written in April of 2024 and was in the amount of $1,300.

Bishop has been charged with exploitation of the elderly or disabled.

Man Arrested In Chattooga County Later Arrested In Floyd County The Same Day

A man arrested in Chattooga County last week was arrested later the same day in Floyd County on a separate shoplifting charge.

According to reports, 35-year-old Cody Lee Vickers of Fayette was arrested Thursday in Rome after he allegedly stole a pack of Camel Crush Menthol cigarettes from the Circle K on Shorter Avenue. The cigarettes were valued at $9.46.

Reports said Vickers had also been arrested earlier that same day in Chattooga County for shoplifting from a store there. The reports did not list what was allegedly stolen or where the incident happened.

Vickers is charged with shoplifting in both Floyd County and Chattooga County.
