Residents across Chattooga County and Northwest Georgia can expect a cool, calm, and pleasant Thanksgiving, with clear to mostly clear skies settling over the region. After several unseasonably warm days this month, temperatures have dropped back to more seasonable levels—and today will feel like the official arrival of late fall. Afternoon highs will range from the upper 40s to near 60, with a noticeable chill in the air.
Northwest Georgia, including Chattooga County, is heading into a calm and comfortable Thanksgiving after Tuesday’s active weather. Skies will continue clearing through the day, and conditions will turn noticeably cooler and drier.
Rain returns to Chattooga County and much of Northwest Georgia today as a cold front approaches the region. Forecasters say most of the area can expect three-quarters of an inch to an inch and a half of rainfall, with a few isolated spots possibly seeing up to two inches or more, especially across the higher elevations of far northwest Georgia.
Mostly cloudy skies settled over Chattooga County this morning with temperatures around 65 degrees, and today’s weather will continue to feel unusually warm for late November. A few passing showers are possible, mainly during the morning hours, but most of the day will remain dry with clouds lingering and highs climbing into the mid-70s. Tonight will stay mild, with temperatures dipping only into the low 50s.
Unseasonably warm temperatures will continue across Chattooga County and the rest of Northwest Georgia as we head through the weekend and into next week. Forecasters say highs will run about 10 to 15 degrees above normal, and a few record highs may even be challenged across the region.
After a day of active weather that brought severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings to parts of Georgia on Monday, residents can expect a calmer day today. A cold front stretching across central Georgia, from just south of Columbus to Augusta, is bringing low-level clouds and reduced visibility, with possible fog in the area until around 10 AM. The National Weather Service reports that drier air is moving into the northern portion of the state, following the front’s passage. As the day progresses, cloud cover will dissipate, leading to a sunny afternoon with high temperatures ranging from the lower 70s to the lower 80s.
