There’s Hope for the Hungry will be in Trion today, Thursday, August 13, providing free groceries to families and individuals in the community.

The food distribution will be held at Central Avenue Baptist Church from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

There is no identification required to receive groceries. However, recipients must be present at the distribution to receive the food.

The church’s free Clothes Closet will also be open today from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., providing another resource for those in need.

Central Avenue Baptist Church is located at 14074 Highway 27 in Trion, behind Dixie Subs.

Organizers encourage anyone who could benefit from the assistance to stop by during the distribution hours.

Supporters of the Pride of Trion Marching Band have an opportunity to show their Trion pride with the band’s official 2026 show shirts, now available for presale.

The Pride of Trion Marching Band announced that orders are currently being accepted for this year’s show shirts, with an order deadline of August 28.

Band supporters are encouraged to place their orders before the deadline, as organizers say they cannot guarantee that additional shirts will be available once the ordering window closes.

All orders must be placed through the Trion High School Band Boosters website. The shirts feature artwork celebrating the Pride of Trion’s 2026 marching season and show.

The annual show shirts give students, parents, alumni and other supporters a way to represent the Pride of Trion throughout marching season while supporting the band program.

Those interested in purchasing a shirt should place their order online no later than Friday, August 28.

Families across Chattooga County are invited to attend the next Speak Life Special Needs Family Support Group meeting on Saturday, February 28, at 11 a.m. at The Ark, located at 2629 Spring Creek Road in Trion.

This month’s gathering will feature guest speaker Mr. Driggers, a board-certified behavioral analyst, who will offer insight and host a question-and-answer session focused on challenges many families face, including elopement, harmful stimming behaviors, and food refusal. Organizers say the event is designed to provide practical guidance and encouragement for parents and caregivers.

The support group is open to individuals of all ages with special needs and their families. Food, fellowship, and family-friendly activities will be part of the morning event.

Speak Life meets at 11 a.m. on the last Saturday of each month, except November and December, at rotating locations throughout Chattooga County.

Warmth that feels more like April will continue across Chattooga County and the rest of Northwest Georgia through Friday, with afternoon temperatures running above average and flirting with daily records in parts of the region. Friday’s highs are expected to reach the mid to upper 70s, and if cloud cover breaks for long stretches during the afternoon, a few locations could end up tying or breaking records.
