The Floyd County Commission has rejected two separate zoning requests affecting properties in the Silver Creek and Horseleg Creek Road areas. Commissioners voted 3–0 to deny a special-use permit that would have allowed a solar farm to be constructed on a 40-acre undeveloped tract off Isbell Road.
Home sales in Chattooga County showed noticeable changes in 2025 compared to 2024, with the local housing market shifting toward a more balanced pace. While home values continued to rise slightly this year, the overall number of sales slowed compared to the busier market conditions seen in 2024.

The Trion Heights Baptist Church will present their drive-thru nativity titled “The Light of Christmas” free of charge to the community December the 1st through the 25th. Mr. DeForest “Brimp” Warren, age 101, of Summerville, GA, died Saturday, November 29, 2025, at his residence.
Mr. Warren was born May 8, 1924, in Berryton, GA, son of the late Hines William Warren and Lizzie Kinsey Warren. He was a member of Horizon Baptist Church.
Mr. Warren was a veteran of the United States Army and was the final surviving World War II Veteran of Chattooga County. In 1960, he founded Warren Ford in Summerville and owned and operated the dealership until 1986. He received numerous awards from Ford and was a member of the Ford Hall of Fame. He was also an original co-founder of the Chattooga County Democratic Association.
Mr. Warren was a member of the Chattooga Masonic Lodge # 704, F&AM as well as the Chattooga Shrine Club. He had also been selected to serve as the Grand Marshall for the Chattooga County Veterans Day Parade.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years, Clara Barrett Warren; granddaughter, Ashley Payton Hall; and son-in-law, Charles Dempsey Carden
Survivors include his son, Gary Matthew Warren; daughter, Cynthia Lee Warren Carden; grandchildren, Andrea (Daniel) Hayes, Ansley (Daniel) Smith, Amanda (Jason) Wright; great-grandchildren, Caden Smith, Emma Kate Smith, Libby Wright, and Cali Cavallo.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 3, 2025, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Stacy Vaughn and Chaplain David Ellis officiating. Entombment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Daniel Hayes, Daniel Smith, Jason Wright, Caden Smith, Kyle Kellett, and Blake Weaver. Honorary pallbearers will be Stacy Vaughn, Dennis Tucker, Arch Warren, Anita Johnston, Glenda Searels, Donnie Hall, Brandon Gurley, Jimmy Barron, Ken Bruce, Rex Abernathy, Jimmy Evans, Doug Stephens, Joseph Jackson, Ken Anderson, Jon Dennis, Odele Anderson, Barbara Reece, Albert Palmour, Pete Vaughn, and Kathy Floyd.
Mr. Warren will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service on Wednesday.

A Summerville man is facing multiple drug charges after police say they located methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia during a late-night traffic stop. According to the incident report, the arrest happened on November 15th after authorities issued a lookout for a green Honda Civic linked to an earlier shoplifting incident at the Summerville Walmart.
