There’s Hope for the Hungry will be at the Central Avenue Baptist Church in Trion this week on Thursday, March 12, to give away free groceries. Come between the hours of 10:00 am and 1:00 pm to get your free groceries. No ID is required. But, you must be present to receive the food.
The free Clothes Closet will also be available from 10:00 until 12:30. They are located at 14074 Highway 27 in Trion behind Dixie Subs.
Summerville Pentecostal Worship Center is inviting families to a Kids Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 12 noon. The event will begin with lunch in the fellowship hall, followed by an Easter egg hunt for children.
The church is located at 116 Lake Wanda Reita Road in Summerville. Organizers are asking each family to bring one dozen filled eggs per child to help make the event special for everyone attending.
Church leaders say the afternoon is designed to be a time of food, fun, and fellowship for the community as families gather to celebrate the Easter season.
Mr. Ronald Leps, age 62, of Summerville, GA, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2026.
Mr. Leps was born August 30, 1963, in Philadelphia, PA, son of the late Raymond Leps and Rose Marie Geary Moore. He was previously employed for many years with The Goody Barn and also worked as a handyman. Mr. Leps was a member of Lyerly Lodge # 338, F&AM, as well as the Chattooga Shrine Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Alexander Leps.
Survivors include his son, Devin Leps; daughters, Starla Robinson and Kayla Leps; brothers, Raymond Leps and Leonard Leps; sisters, Charmaine Kollman, Diane Davis, Ramona Leps, Rose VanHettinga, and Renee Cincotti; grandchildren, Alaina Robinson, Briana Robinson, Trevor Morgan, Trent Morgan, Easton Bradley, Berri Leps, and Leon Leps; great-grandchildren, Oaklynn Amerine and Stella Robinson; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services with Masonic Rites will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, March 14, 2026, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Min. Deon Phillips officiating.
Mr. Leps will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Friday.
Thrill seekers across Georgia will soon be able to return to Six Flags Over Georgia, as the popular theme park prepares to kick off its 2026 season this weekend.
The park will officially reopen for Opening Weekend on March 14–15, marking its 59th season of operation.
Guests will once again be able to enjoy major attractions including roller coasters such as Goliath, Twisted Cyclone, and Georgia Scorcher, along with family rides, entertainment, and dining throughout the park.
Following opening weekend, the park will host several seasonal events throughout the year. One of the first major events will be Spring Break festivities scheduled for April 3–12, featuring additional entertainment and activities for visitors.
Six Flags Over Georgia, located in Mableton near Atlanta, first opened in 1967 and remains one of the largest amusement parks in the Southeast, offering dozens of rides and attractions across its 290-acre property.
Spring Creek Baptist Church will host a weeklong revival beginning Saturday, March 15, inviting the community to attend several nights of preaching and worship.
The revival will begin Saturday, March 15 at 6 p.m., with services continuing March 16 through March 20 at 7 p.m. each evening at the church, located at 2629 Spring Creek Road in Trion.
Guest preachers scheduled for the revival include Johnny Dotson on Sunday, March 15; Mica Gillespie on Monday, March 16; Justin Ward on Tuesday, March 17; Nathan Poteet on Wednesday, March 18; John Vanpelt on Thursday, March 19; and Bradley Clayton on Friday, March 20.
Everyone is invited to attend the six nights of services.
