Several events are happening today, Saturday, May 30, giving families across Chattooga County and Northwest Georgia a variety of ways to spend the day.
The City of Summerville and the Chattooga County Chamber of Commerce are inviting the public to attend Community Connect Day this Saturday from noon until 3 PM at the Summerville Train Depot.
The family-friendly event will feature local organizations, churches, clubs, agencies, and volunteer groups from across the community. Organizers say the goal is to help residents learn more about available services, volunteer opportunities, and ways to become involved in the community.
The event also coincides with the arrival of the Tennessee Valley Railroad steam engine passenger train, bringing visitors and tourists into downtown Summerville.
Food vendors and informational booths will line East Washington Street throughout the afternoon. Community leaders say the event is designed to connect people with resources while showcasing everything Chattooga County has to offer.

The City of Summerville is inviting the community out for a day of music, food, and local shopping at the upcoming May Market & Melodies event.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 10 AM until 3 PM at the Summerville Train Depot.
Organizers say the event will coincide with the arrival of the Tennessee Valley Railroad’s steam engine passenger train, adding a unique attraction for attendees. The day will feature live musical entertainment, a variety of local vendors, and a wide selection of food and handcrafted goods.
The event is free to attend and is designed to be family-friendly.
City officials also noted that anyone interested in becoming a vendor should contact the City of Summerville directly, warning residents not to send payments through third-party apps to avoid potential scams.

The City of Summerville will host Hee Haw Tribute Shows on Friday, March 20, and Saturday, March 21 at the Summerville Train Depot. The event will feature tributes to classic Hee Haw skits including “Rindercella,” Samples Sales, Gossip Girls, and more.
Organizers say a cast of more than 18 performers will bring 90 minutes of laughter and interactive fun to the stage. Showtimes are set for Friday at 7 p.m., with three performances on Saturday at 3 p.m., 7 p.m., and 9 p.m.
Advance tickets are available at Summerville City Hall for $15, with additional tickets available at the door if space allows. Concessions will also be available, and seating will open 15 minutes prior to each show.
