A forty-one-year-old woman was arrested on DUI charges after she told a deputy that she had taken a “moon rock” because she “needed to go to the moon”.

The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call over the past weekend on Goodwin Drive in Summerville about a woman yelling in the street. When officers arrived, they found thirty-six-year-old Brittany Michelle Schrader who was “agitated”, according to the sheriff’s office report. Officers went inside Schrader’s father’s house and spoke with Schrader’s dad. He told officers that Schrader had “pushed him into the kitchen counter and kicked a hole in the dining room wall”. Schrader’s father told the deputy that he “grabbed her and put her outside and locked the door”. Schrader was placed under arrest and charged with criminal trespass and simple battery under the Family Violence Act and was booked into the Chattooga County Jail..

Normally, mobile home taxes are due in Georgia on April 1st, but because of a delay in printing the bills, the tax deadline for mobile home taxes in Chattooga County is being extended to April 10, 2023, according to Chattooga County Tax Commissioner Joy Hampton.

The Georgia State Patrol and the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office were conducting a safety checkpoint on Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Oak Hill and Smallen Road in Lyerly and stopped a vehicle being driven by thirty-eight-year-old Robert Brandon Clonts. A state trooper noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle and asked for assistance from a Chattooga County Deputy. Clonts admitted to the officers that he had marijuana inside the vehicle. The deputy and state trooper also found Adderall in the vehicle’s console. Clonts was arrested and taken to the Chattooga County Jail on charges of marijuana possession and possession of a Schedule II drug.

Four people, including two juveniles, were arrested for entering 14 unlocked vehicles in West Rome, Armuchee, and Coosa and stealing items, including several firearms, from inside the cars. The property taken in these thefts included six stolen pistols, $900 in cash as well as illegal drugs.
