The event will take place TODAY, Thursday, March 5 at 4:00 p.m. at the new facility located at 9777 Rome Boulevard in Summerville.

Community members, local leaders, and healthcare representatives are expected to attend the celebration marking the opening of the new medical facility. Have you purchased your tickets yet? The 2026 Wings Over North Georgia (WONG) Air Show is just a month away and will take to the skies over Rome’s Russell Regional Airport on April 3rd and 4th. This year’s show will feature the world-famous U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, promising high-speed aerial maneuvers and precision flying that always draw large crowds from across Northwest Georgia and beyond.

John Cowman, President of JLC Airshow Management, says he is especially excited about opening day. He notes that Friday will be highlighted not only by the Thunderbirds’ daytime performance, but also by a spectacular night show featuring drones and fireworks, creating a full day of entertainment for families and aviation fans alike.

Daylight Saving Time Begins This Weekend; Clocks Spring Forward Sunday

Daylight Saving Time returns this weekend, meaning residents across Chattooga County and Northwest Georgia will need to set their clocks forward one hour before heading to bed Saturday night.

At 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, clocks will “spring forward” to 3:00 a.m., giving us more daylight in the evening hours but one less hour of sleep.

The time change marks the unofficial start of longer, brighter days leading into spring and summer. While many people welcome the extended evening daylight, the adjustment can temporarily disrupt sleep schedules.

Health experts recommend going to bed a little earlier in the days leading up to the change, limiting screen time before bed, and getting morning sunlight on Sunday to help reset your internal clock.

Fire officials also remind residents that the time change is a good opportunity to check smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector batteries to ensure they are working properly.

Daylight Saving Time will remain in effect until Sunday, November 1, 2026, when clocks “fall back” one hour.
