AdventHealth to Hold Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting for New Summerville Primary Care & Urgent Care Facility

Residents of Chattooga County and surrounding Northwest Georgia communities are invited to attend the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for the new AdventHealth Medical Group Primary Care & Urgent Care location in Summerville.

The event will take place TODAY, Thursday, March 5 at 4:00 p.m. at the new facility located at 9777 Rome Boulevard in Summerville.

Community members, local leaders, and healthcare representatives are expected to attend the celebration marking the opening of the new medical facility. The event will give residents an opportunity to learn more about the services offered while celebrating expanded healthcare access for the region.

AdventHealth officials say the new location will provide primary care services as well as urgent care, helping meet the growing healthcare needs of Chattooga County and nearby Northwest Georgia communities.

Ribbon cuttings and grand openings like this are often held in partnership with local chambers of commerce and community organizations to welcome new businesses and services to the area.

Residents are encouraged to attend and help celebrate the addition of another healthcare resource serving the Summerville community.

Daylight Saving Time Begins This Weekend; Clocks Spring Forward Sunday

Daylight Saving Time returns this weekend, meaning residents across Chattooga County and Northwest Georgia will need to set their clocks forward one hour before heading to bed Saturday night.

At 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, clocks will “spring forward” to 3:00 a.m., giving us more daylight in the evening hours but one less hour of sleep.

The time change marks the unofficial start of longer, brighter days leading into spring and summer. While many people welcome the extended evening daylight, the adjustment can temporarily disrupt sleep schedules.

Health experts recommend going to bed a little earlier in the days leading up to the change, limiting screen time before bed, and getting morning sunlight on Sunday to help reset your internal clock.

Fire officials also remind residents that the time change is a good opportunity to check smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector batteries to ensure they are working properly.

Daylight Saving Time will remain in effect until Sunday, November 1, 2026, when clocks “fall back” one hour.

Armuchee Man Arrested on Felony Financial Transaction Card Fraud Warrant

An Armuchee man has been arrested on a felony warrant charging him with financial transaction card fraud.

According to the warrant, 45-year-old James Richard Guice is accused of authorizing another person to withdraw money from an ATM and then later reporting to the financial institution that the person did not have permission to make the withdrawal.

Investigators say the credit union credited $600 to Guice’s account based on that report, which the warrant alleges was false.

The case remains under investigation.
