Light rain and low clouds will remain widespread across Chattooga County and Northwest Georgia through much of today, keeping temperatures on the mild side for early February.
Once again, Georgia and much of the Deep South appear headed for a round of winter weather this weekend, but like last weekend, the best chance for frozen precipitation looks to stay mainly east of Chattooga, Floyd, and Walker Counties. The National Weather Service says confidence continues to increase for measurable snowfall across parts of northeast and east-central Georgia between Friday night and Saturday night, prompting a Winter Storm Watch for those areas.
Residents across Chattooga County and Northwest Georgia are waking up to the coolest morning temperatures they’ll feel for at least the next week, with early Saturday lows in the upper 20s to low 30s. After that chilly start, Saturday turns sunny and pleasant, with afternoon highs climbing into the upper 50s to low 60s.
Northwest Georgia, including Chattooga County, is expected to experience calm and mostly dry weather through the rest of the week before a stronger blast of Arctic air arrives late Sunday into Monday.

While the steadiest and heaviest rain is expected farther south—mainly south of I-20—periods of rain and thick cloud cover will still be common locally from today into Sunday.
Dry conditions will continue across Chattooga County and the rest of Northwest Georgia through the day, but changes arrive tonight as the next weather system moves in. High clouds will continue to stream across the region, and while humidity levels will drop near fire-danger thresholds, the dry air is expected to ease after today.
