The Summerville Natural Gas Friday Night Concert Series is set to return this spring and summer, bringing free live music to downtown Summerville’s East Washington Street Entertainment District.

The concert lineup kicks off April 24 at 7 p.m. with Pink Houses, followed by the 1st Generation Band on May 15, and Strictly Skynyrd on June 19. Each performance will begin at 7 p.m. on the outdoor stage, offering a mix of classic rock, soul, and Southern favorites for music fans of all ages.

Hosted in the heart of downtown and sponsored by Summerville Main Street, the series is designed to bring the community together for evenings of entertainment, food, and local shopping. Organizers encourage residents and visitors to come out, enjoy the atmosphere, and support local businesses during each event.

New Specialty Tag Lets Georgians Support State Parks and Historic Sites

Georgians now have a new way to support the state’s parks and historic landmarks by purchasing a specialty license plate for vehicles or trailers. The new tag is available through the state’s online e-services portal at renewal time for $80 the first year and $55 each year after that, while those who want the plate before renewal can visit their local county tag office and pay the difference in fees.

Money raised from the new specialty tag will directly benefit the State Parks and Historic Sites Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. Those funds will help protect, manage, and maintain Georgia’s natural, historical, and cultural resources while also supporting public enjoyment, recreation, and educational opportunities across the state.

State officials say the new plate gives residents a simple way to show pride in Georgia’s outdoor and historic treasures while helping preserve them for future generations. More information is available through the Georgia Department of Revenue.

Chattooga County EMA to Host Community Blood Drive April 10

The Chattooga County Emergency Management Agency is encouraging residents to give back and help save lives by participating in an upcoming community blood drive on Friday, April 10.

The event will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the EMA office located at 170 Farrar Drive in Summerville. Organizers say just one donation can help save up to three lives, making community participation especially important.

Those who donate between April 1 and April 15 will also be entered into the Blood Assurance “BA Local Hero” promotion, with a chance to win one of several $100 gift cards being awarded across participating communities.

Appointments can be scheduled online through Blood Assurance, and walk-ins may be accepted as space allows. Officials encourage residents to consider donating and supporting the ongoing need for blood supplies across the region.
